Background tiles from real life images

Comments welcome to the artist, Rob Weinberg.

A background tile is a small rectangular graphic designed to enhance a web page. Multiples of this same graphic become tiled edge to edge as the background of the page. If the tile is properly designed, there is no appearance of a "seam" between one graphical tile and the next. The effect is a repeating but "seamlessly" blended background. Various web sites offer many graphical tiles which you can download for use as backgrounds on your web page.

It is fairly easy to create seamlessly tiling graphics that consist of texture patterns. The greater challenge is to create seamlessly tiling backgrounds from real life images, like outdoor scenes or celebrity photo shoots.

Recently I've been creating such real object seamless background tiles. Here are some samples. To use these images as real backgrounds, you need to reduce their contrast, as I have done with the background image for the page you are reading.
